Past Events

In the past the main event of the year was the Rae Gala. Alongside this there were a few other one off events such as nature walks. In recent years the group has become much more active.

There are now three major events each year starting with Northcliffe Easter Festivities, Picnic with the Easter Bunny, Easter Egg Hunt, egg and spoon race, decorate your egg competition, egg throwing competition. Model railway rides (very popular with the Easter Bunny).

The next event is The Big Lunch at Northcliffe this wonderful annual National event originating from the Eden project which brings local communities together, encouraging sharing of food, drink and good company. All you need to do is bring some homemade food to share with your local community and we do the rest. It is held by the model railway.

The Rae Gala is held to celebrate the gift of Northcliffe Park, formally known as Northcliffe woods and the Norman Rae playing fields, by Sir Henry Norman Rae “as an open space for the recreation and benefit of the public forever”. It is our most popular event. We provide a fun packed programme for the local community by the model railway. An extended range of traditional activities including a variety of music, dancing, donkey rides, ferret racing, coconut shy, children’s activity corner, face painting, wet sponge throwing, giant games and storytelling to suit all ages and rides on the model railway. Raffle prizes can be won on the day for all those wanting to help us raise funds for the future development of Northcliffe. A variety of food, barbeques, cakes, ice cream and sweets are all available.

More events are being added such as the Northcliffe Cream Teas, Fairtrade tea and coffee, homemade scones and cakes and good company at the Northcliffe Community Hut, Northcliffe Allotments.

Nature walks, dawn chorus walk and history walks take place fairly regularly. To read about these look at the old newsletters in the archive section or in the latest Newsletter. For information of future events see the latest newsletter or the News and Events page.
