Why join Friends of Northcliffe?

Becoming a member of Friends of Northcliffe doesn’t require you to do anything (although volunteers are always welcome). It is a great way to help us afford to put on activities and ensures that the local community gets a say in how our beloved park is managed. It also gives us a powerful community voice as an organisation with over 200 members – can we make it 300?

We run a Conservation and Biodiversity Management Group which meets regularly with the park and woodland teams with a view to enhancing the park for people and nature. We put on events such as the Rae Gala which are volunteer-led and often need funds to make them happen. Our events and activities are not funded by either Bradford Council or Shipley Town Council, although both have contributed to specific events or activities previously. That’s why we need your help in becoming a member and contributing your membership fee.

Where your money is spent:
  • Insurance
  • Event costs including toilet hire
  • Equipment such as gazebos and tables
  • Plants
  • Tools for conservation activities
  • Maintaining the willow butterflies which go on the meadow in summer
  • Bird food, bird feeding area and bird box maintenance
